Plugged in to God
We started a NEW SERIES this week at New Heart. PLUGGED IN is a 4 week evangelism series where we are looking to share Jesus with our friends, family and practically anyone that we encounter in our day to day lives.
As always this is an extension of the conversation from Sunday, you can listen to the message that was preached through our Podcast which is downloadable through iTunes OR you listen to it through our website which will be to the right of your screen.
"I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ." Philemon 1:6
Every believer has been empowered to talk about Jesus, to be active in sharing our faith, but a lot of the time we listen to fear. Fear is an overriding factor in the sharing of our faith and therefore we often allow moments to pass by when we could have talked about Jesus Christ.
On a scale from 1 --> 10, how close do you feel to God?
At the end of the day, the only way for people to be close to God is by through Jesus Christ. So if you aren't feeling close to God, it is important for you (personally) to come into a right relationship with Jesus Christ. And the only possible way for our friends and family to encounter God and draw near to Him is through Jesus Christ, alone! (John 14:6)
So how do we share our faith? How do we begin? How do we defeat fear?
"Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
He said to them:“It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:6-8
We need the Holy Spirit, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us we recieve power. Power that overcomes our fears, that allows us to rise up and share the name of Jesus with those around us. So a simple question for us to reflect on would be, are you using the Holy Spirit that is in you?
Don't forget that you can use the comment section to extend the conversation, ask a question or encourage those that are preaching each Sunday.
