‘Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.’
This phrase that Jesus taught doesn’t refer to those who live in peace but to those who actually bring about peace; to actually overcome evil with good.
There are two ways we can be peacemakers. The first being peace between man and God and the second to bring peace between two conflicting sides with humanity.
Sometimes we believe that this is only a job for a particular type of person or someone that is interested in social justice, but really it is the call of all those who follow Jesus to bring peace within their communities and cultures.
It is also a beatitude with a promise.
Those who are peacemakers will be called Children of God because they share the same passion for peace and reconciliation as their Father in heaven. That is an exciting promise and a beautiful thought that a peacemaker shares the same heart as their Father, because that is exactly what God is … a peacemaker; one who sent His own Son for us.
DO SOMETHING …
Seek your heart, do you actually live the life of a peacemaker and reflect the heart of your own Heavenly Father? If not write down one change you are going to take to start living a life of a peacemaker.
PRAY TODAY …
Lord, peacemakers are beautifully known as your very own children. I want to be known as a child of God, help me to take steps today to be a peacemaker. Amen.
